Asset Protection Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:  To maintain a high standard of alertness, responsibility, and confidentiality, and will work well with employees, supervisors and customers. The Asset Protection (AP) Specialist will report weekly all shrink related activities and provide necessary information to be used to reduce risk to the organization and customers.  The primary duty is to observe and report.


  • Maintain an acceptable level of AP and Security awareness at assigned store.
  • Direct and ensure an orderly shopping environment.
  • Directly oversee and monitor merchandise rotations throughout the day to ensure adherence to company purchase and safety policies.
  • Raise security awareness and understanding to acceptable level.
  • Prepare daily logs, reports and case summaries to document investigations.
  • Obtain and analyze information on suspects, crimes, and disturbances in order to solve cases, to identify criminal activity, and to gather information.
  • Observe and document activities of individuals in order to detect unlawful acts or to obtain evidence for cases, using still or video cameras.
  • Act as a liaison between assigned store management, security, Human Resources, Safety and/or the local police department as appropriate and directed.
  • Lead by example in fostering a culture of AP, security and safety awareness.
  • Coordinate with Asset Protection Manager to properly utilize CCTV for monitoring and review and electronically capturing video as requested by HR and/or Security.
  • Be familiar with on-site emergency procedures, first aid supplies and equipment.
  • Expected to remain attentive and responsive while on duty.
  • Able to act professionally and responsibly in customer sensitive situations under pressure.
  • Able to work well and professionally with Management.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of uniforms & maintain a professional appearance.
  • Punctual & dependable attendance.
  • Able to follow and support all GICO policies and procedures.  Reviews and is familiar with GICO safety policies, programs and procedures. Adheres to all safety rules, regulations and safety codes, and attends safety training sessions and necessary safety meetings.


  • Perform other duties as required by management.
  • In the absence of his/her supervisor, follows, enforces and provides training to ensure all safety rules and regulations are followed. Completes and submits any necessary forms and/or reports immediately, within 2 hours, when an incident occurs.
  • Maintains current certifications in First Aid and CPR and administers First Aid and CPR if required.


  • Must maintain a drug & alcohol free body
  • High school diploma or equivalent 6 months security experience preferred
  • Able to speak, read, write, & understand the English language – bilingual Spanish preferred

  • Must be able to constantly stand, walk, bend, & stoop for long periods of time (up to 8 hours a day).

  • Ability to work flexible hours, various work hours may be required, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
