Driver Assistant (S Western & Reno Ave.)

JOB SUMMARY:  A Driver Assistant works with company drivers to deliver products or equipment to stores and attended donation centers. Driver Assistants are responsible for all tasks except for truck driving.

Starting Pay: $14.10 per hour

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists driver in picking up and loading donations.
  • Unload donations and equipment at retail stores, warehouse or for donation drives, if necessary.
  • Communicates with supervisor, as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Interacts with customers and assists with filling out paperwork to record deliveries.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assists truck drivers with visually spotting to help when backing the truck.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with team/department.
  • Maintain good public relations with customers.
  • Maintains regular attendance and work hours.
  • Develop cooperative communication with intradepartmental peers.
  • Help operate liftgate and assist with preventive maintenance.
  • Assist in production or warehousing.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaising with the transportation managers or the Director of Logistics to notify the driver of any changes to daily routes.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/needed.
  • Reviews and is familiar with Goodwill safety policies, programs, and procedures. Adheres to all safety rules, regulations, and safety codes, and attends safety training sessions and necessary CORE.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School degree or GED, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand, twist, bend, kneel and reach for long periods of time (up to 8 hours a day).
  • Good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Frequent lifting up to 100 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in warehouse environment, retail store, donation center and truck environment most of the time and will be exposed to airborne particles such as dust, mold, dirt and pollen as well as extreme heat and cold and severe weather conditions.
  • Must be available to work during operating hours as needed for business operations. Work schedule may include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and black periods which may vary from week to week as well as occasional overtime when approved by management.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Works 40 hours per week or more when required.
